Apple found 40 percent of its users interested in the new apple watch

Apple is back on creating its hype, expecting its existing users to show interest on its new apple watch.

About 40 per cent of adult Apple iPhone owners in the United States are interested in buying the company's new Apple Watch, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The high-tech smartwatch, which will range in price from $350 to $17,000 for an 18-karat gold model, is Apple Inc's first major new product in five years and consumer demand for the device is being closely watched by competitors and investors.

Owners of the iPhone are a particularly important market for Apple as it launches the new watch, which goes on sale April 24. Because the watch needs an iPhone to work fully, analysts say the most likely pool of initial buyers will already have an Apple smartphone in their pockets.

BTIG analyst Walter Piecyk said that with more than 100 million active iPhone users in the United States and closer to half a billion globally, the survey was "pretty encouraging" for a product that has not been seen in shops, even if was unclear how much of the interest would translate into purchases.

Pacific Crest Securities analyst Andrew Hargreaves said it was not clear how many people wanted or needed a smart watch. But he expected Apple's cache and marketing might to deliver strong initial sales of the Apple Watch.

"Winning Apple customers is more realistic at this point," said Hargreaves.

The watch allows users to check email, listen to music and make phone calls.

Ipsos surveyed 2,469 Americans aged 18 and older online between March 9 and March 17 and found that 24 per cent expressed an interest in purchasing the Apple Watch, including 10 per cent of those describing themselves as "very interested." The data was weighted to reflect the US population and has a credibility interval, a measure of accuracy, of plus or minus 2.2 percentage points.

Among the iPhone owners, 39 per cent were interested in purchasing the Apple watch, including 17 per cent describing themselves as very interested. There were 788 iPhone owners in the survey with a credibility interval of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Discussions about the watch have flooded online social media channels such as Twitter and Facebook since Apple held a splashy event in San Francisco on March 9 to showcase the watch.

Social media chatter about the Apple watch was 15 per cent positive and 5 per cent negative in the week following Apple's event, according to an analysis that the firm Networked Insights conducted for Reuters. The remaining 80 per cent was neutral. By contrast, the social conversation for Apple's iPhone 6 during the same week was 5 per cent positive and 0 per cent negative, according to the analysis.

Among the conversations relating to the Apple watch during the one-week period, 5.8 per cent of the comments showed an intent to purchase, according to Networked Insights, which analyzes tweets, public Facebook posts and other sources. Social comments about the iPhone 6, which has been on sale since September, showed a 2.9 per cent purchase intent during the same week.

Cyanogen OS 12 Based on Android 5.0 Lollipop Out “in a Few Weeks

The update will be available for three smartphones

Cyanogen's OS 12 update, which is the new version of the operating system based on Android 5.0 Lollipop, is still in the works. Although the developer promised the update would be provided to smartphone owners pretty fast, its release date went from February to March.
Now the company has updated the status of the Cyanogen OS 12 and said that the upgrade would be available for at least three smartphones “in a few weeks.”
The relevant devices mentioned by Cyanogen are OnePlus One, YU Yureka and Alcatel Hero 2+, which will all receive Android 5.0 Lollipop once OS 12 is released.
For those of you who don't remember, we've already reported that Micromax teased Android 5.0 Lollipop for YU Yureka a few days ago. According to this teaser, the update should be available beginning March 26.
This is the only confirmed release date for Cyanogen OS 12 based on Lollipop that we have now, along the developer's recent statement that it would be out in a few weeks.
“We are in the final stages of preparing the Cyanogen OS 12 ‘L’ OTA updates,” say developers in a status update for this version of the OS.
Keep in mind, though, that not all three smartphones will receive the update at the same time. It looks like the team is working separately for each of these devices and will provide the update at different times.

OnePlus One, YU Yureka and Alcatel Hero 2+ will be getting the update

For OnePlus One, Cyanogen OS 12 based on Lollipop will be released OTA (over the air) “in the next few weeks.” Developers are currently packaging final bootloader firmware and addressing QA/QE restults.
YU Yureka owners will be getting the update “in the next few weeks” too, as Cyanogen is now addressing QA/QE results and beginning soak testing with users in India. Your best bet would be March 26.
Last but not least, Alcatel Hero 2+ will ship with Cyanogen OS 11 (KitKat). According to Cyanogen, they are working hard with MediaTek to support Android 5.0 Lollipop. Plans are to release the OTA (over the air) update to Cyanogen OS 12 based on Lollipop in the May/June timeframe.
There is some information on Android 5.1 Lollipop, as Cyanogen claims that they will evaluate the change in the new version and will release them as part of a future OTA (over the air) upgrade after the initial Lollipop update.

Hey, Samsung, make this “Avengers Edition” Galaxy S6 concept real

Okay, stop throwing your money at the screen for a second: this is not a real product, as far as we can tell. But if this concept would ever become a real thing, Samsung would definitely have a summer blockbuster on its hands.
The “Avengers Edition” Galaxy S6 Edge concept comes to us courtesy of Korean blogger Jang Yunseong, but the actual source seems to be Korean forum Seeko. While the blogger claims on Twitter than Samsung is “considering” making something like this, there’s absolutely zero guarantee that will ever happen. With that said, Samsung should totally make this a reality. It has the marketing budget to match Marvel’s profits off the Avengers franchise. And the phones would look totally awesome. So, Samsung, just do it. You know you want to.
Iron Man is, of course, present. But not Robert Downey Jr. Is it because he is involved with a competing Android flagship? Who knows…
Which one would you pick? It’s Black Widow for me.

Xiaomi launches Mi Pad and Redmi 2 in India

Xiaomi announced earlier this year that it would be focusing its attention on the Indian market, and the vendor is doing so with two new product launches, the Mi Pad and the Redmi 2. The Mi Pad will be targeted at the mid-range tablet segment and will retail for Rs. 12,999 ($207), while the Redmi 2 is the successor to the entry-level Redmi 1S and will be available for Rs. 6,999 ($110).
Both devices will feature Xiaomi's Android 4.4-based MIUI 6 out of the box. MIUI has garnered over 100 million users globally, and by offering affordable devices with stellar hardware, Xiaomi will be looking to increase that user base considerably over the course of the year.
In terms of specs, the Mi Pad is at par with HTC's Nexus 9, boasting a similar 4:3 ratio on a 7.9-inch screen with a resolution of 2048 x 1536. Powering the device is an NVIDIA Tegra K1 CPU that has a quad-core Cortex A15 CPU clocked at 2.2GHz and a 192-core GPU. The tablet comes with 2GB RAM, and storage variants of 16 and 64GB are available. Considering the pricing, it is likely the 16GB variant will make its debut in India initially. There's also a microSD card slot, 8MP camera at the back, 5MP front shooter, Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and a 6,700mAh battery.

Coming over to the Redmi 2, Xiaomi will try to emulate the success of its predecessor, the Redmi 1S. The handset comes with updated hardware in the form of a 4.7-inch 720p display, Snapdragon 410 CPU, 2GB RAM, 8GB storage, microSD card slot, 8MP camera, 2MP front shooter, 3G connectivity and a 2,200mAh battery.
Sales of the Mi Pad will commence starting March 24, with the device up for open sale on Flipkart. The Redmi 2 will follow a registration process, with the first batch of registrations starting from 6PM IST March 24.
